Domain url format for ranking purposes

I've heard that URL are no more relevant for SEO purposes

So if for example, you want to best rank "plumber in Peoria" the domain plumberpeoria.com may do the same as the domain plumpeo.com

But still, I'm not 100% sure of this because I'm still seeing some evidence of site ranking ridiculously well with a good domain.

This said, for those who "still believe" in Domain benefits for ranking. Which should be better:

plumberpeoria.com
or
plumber-peoria.com
